התם דלא מוחזק לן באח הכא אף על גב דמוחזק ליה באח

— There, [the law refers to the case] where it was not known [that he had] a brother,<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Or sons; and the question of halizah (V., Glos.) could only arise through his own statement. Hence, he is believed only in so far as he does not impair the freedom of the widow.
